Industrial Architecture for Brunei’s First Marine Maintenance & Decommissioning Yard
Developed by Anson International, Brunei’s first integrated Marine Maintenance and Decommissioning Yard (MMDY) is set to be operational by 2026. Located in the northwest of Pulau Muara Besar, this strategic facility marks the pioneering development of the Brunei Darussalam Maritime Cluster (BDMC)—a key initiative under Brunei’s Economic Blueprint. Eco Bumi & Partners as the Project Architect is working closely with KPI Engineering as the Lead Consultant.
Industrial architecture in this context goes beyond form—it becomes infrastructure. The buildings are engineered for scale, durability, and technical performance, incorporating high-span structural systems, corrosion-resistant materials, and flexible modular layouts that support evolving operational needs. With five primary buildings and more than ten supporting facilities, our scope extended beyond architectural design to include comprehensive coordination with relevant code authorities—ensuring full regulatory compliance while upholding the client’s operational and functional requirements.
